Description Christian Dywan 2011-08-17 23:00:27 UTC
So far existing contacts can be opened by their address. I think the logical next step is to open vcard files and view them, with a button to import. In case of multiple contacts in one file a list with just the name and mail address would be nice, so I know what I will import.

Hmm, not sure how to implement this as there is no folks api to parse a vcard... Maybe we could add a backend where you can just feed it a vcard?

We could expose some functionality from the Folks' e-d-s backend that calls e_vcard_from_string () or similar.

I think this calls for some specific API to recursively add contacts.

See bug 658585, which I'm setting as a blocker for this one.

Makes sense to me. The import button could go in the header bar.

While viewing the vcard, I would deselect any contacts in the sidebar - so that selecting a contact in the list essentially closes the vcard contact.
