Description MT 2011-07-15 07:16:19 UTC
The setting for screen locking in the system settings does not seem to be taking effect. The screen just locks some time after after the display has gone to sleep, even if I set a large timeout (I've set 10 mins for the screensaver, 1 hour for screen lock). I am able to disable screen locking entirely, but I can't set a time interval for locking separate from that of the screensaver.

This works for me in Gnome 3. It uses the setting from the Screen panel in System Settings. However, it doesn't seem to see any system defaults, just the user set value.

I experience the same bug as the original reporter describes. For example, with the following settings in the Brightness and Lock dialog:

Turn screen off when inactive for: 1 minute
Lock (set to on)
Lock screen after: 10 minutes

I would expect the screen to turn off after a minute of inactivity and then lock after another 10 minutes. However, the screen does indeed turn off after 1 minute but it locks immediately. The "Lock screen after:" setting has no effect.

Using Gnome 3.6 on an up-to-date Arch Linux system.

Please request any additional information that will be helpful.

As an aside, it would be nice to have these settings function independently. I.e. you should be able to automatically lock the screen before the screen turns off especially now with nice new lock screen.

This is definitely not working. I set it to wait an hour and it locks immediately, as soon as the screen goes black.

This is fixed in git (both master and 3.6), but distributions will have to pick the patch.
