Reassigning to pango.
Comment 3 Behdad Esfahbod 2011-05-18 19:03:52 UTC
DejaVuSansMono doesn't cover those characters, so you get it from another font. Expected behavior as far as Pango's concerned. Please file with DejaVu fonts.
Comment 4 Ondra Pelech 2011-05-18 19:41:24 UTC
any idea which font is that (since you say DejaVuSansMono doesn't cover those)?
I'm using fedora 13
thanks
Comment 5 Behdad Esfahbod 2011-05-18 20:04:32 UTC
Don't know. You can figure out by running 'pmap' on the process and grep'ing for "fonts".
Comment 6 Ondra Pelech 2011-05-18 21:18:32 UTC
that helped. most likely it's VL Gothic Regular.

so where should I file bugs to get this solved?
Gedit for using bad font?
DejaVu for not providing glyphs?
VL Gothic bugzilla for providing badly proportionate glyphs?
Fedora since it's my distribution?
Comment 7 Behdad Esfahbod 2011-05-18 21:36:25 UTC
Please report to DejaVu. It's on freedesktop bugzilla.
