GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 629833
Re-add support for setting groups on contacts when they're added
Last modified: 2012-08-29 12:09:07 UTC
Support for setting groups on contacts from the Add Contact dialogue was broken with the port to libfolks for 2.32, since it requires some way of representing contacts which aren't in a contact list yet (which folks doesn't have). Fixing this requires that to be added to libfolks, but could also be combined with a rewrite of the Add Contact dialogue so it does linking, though that should probably be a separate bug.

Philip: is this still blocked by Folks? If it is, do you have a folks bug?

We could work around this in Empathy, but we can add a clean way to set initial groups in Folks. I've filed it as bug #648162 > Fixing this requires that to be added to libfolks, but could also be combined > with a rewrite of the Add Contact dialogue so it does linking, though that > should probably be a separate bug. See bug #631121 for inspiration here (and a place to minimize duplicated code).
I just added a new contact and pick his group right away in the add dialog.
