Description civmaniac 2010-03-02 10:23:38 UTC
Added a mov clip. Cut it in two parts and removed first part. After rendering there is first frame (or frames) of the original clip in the rendered clip.
Choice of rendering formats doesn't change the result.

Some details:
Input video: mov
Output: x264enc
Container: ffmux_mp4
Audio: aac

Ubuntu Karmic 32b
Ver:0.13.3
Gstreamer ver:0.10.25-2

Are you sure this wasn't just a cut where you have lacked precision? Do those frames appear if you seek frame by frame in the timeline?
Comment 2 civmaniac 2010-03-02 14:26:22 UTC
I checked it out and that "alien" frame doesn't appear when I seek frame by frame in the timeline. It only appears after rendering. And it is very obvious that an alien frame is actually from the beginning of the original clip.
I tried several times with totally different cut positions and rendering options and this issue persists.
Comment 3 civmaniac 2010-03-03 22:47:10 UTC
Well, I've updated my gstreamer from this PPA:https://launchpad.net/~gstreamer-developers/+archive/ppa and there's NO DIFFERENCE.
When I open my project, this "alien" frame appears in preview. If I seek through timeline and move back to point zero, it disappears. It also appears in preview after rendering complete.

I have the same problem with PiTiVi.

I've got:
Ubuntu Karmic 32b
Pitivi Ver:0.13.3

I confirm all what civmaniac said.

I had no way to eliminate that first frame that appears in the middle (where I cuted) of video when rendering.

Thank you for your work.

Can you try with the git version of pitivi? You could try with this ppa (it's not always up to date though): https://launchpad.net/~rowinggolfer/+archive/pitivi-unstable
Comment 6 dbassa 2010-03-04 21:56:38 UTC
yes, of course, i am going to try. thank you.
Comment 7 dbassa 2010-03-04 22:29:35 UTC
I installed it, and now it keeps coming out an error while opening some videos. It says it took too long to open de video (and they are 10 seconds videos). The videos are recorded with a Nikon D90. I think they are avi videos with 1280x720 resolution. And If I drag the videos from the left side to the right (pitivi layout) the video plays good, but, if I drag from the left-top side to bottom (where the videos are edited, the videos don't play smoothly. The sound is ok, but video doesn't syncro with audio. I hope these words to have been helpful for you all. Tell me if you need some more try. Thanks again. Dani.

If you want I can send you an small video to see that frame. Thank you.
Comment 9 civmaniac 2010-03-05 18:58:35 UTC
Tried out with the git version and problem disappeared in my case. Though, rendering seems much slower than in stable.

0.13.4 is released in the PPA along a bunch of gstreamer packages updates. If you're still experiencing this issue, please try again with the new updates?
Comment 11 civmaniac 2010-03-18 22:49:25 UTC
0.13.4 works fine! No "alien" frames detected :)
Comment 12 dbassa 2010-03-19 08:11:41 UTC
First frame works fine too! Very good, I love new transitions! Now I've got a new issue instead :( Videos created with pitivi get a green tonality. Is it happening to you. Thank you for your very good work. Daniel
Comment 13 Jean-François Fortin Tam 2010-03-19 11:19:51 UTC
The "green tonality" is a bug in gstreamer (don't remember which part of it) that was fixed in the past few months. You may need to upgrade your gstreamer versions to the very latest releases.
Comment 14 dbassa 2010-03-19 22:12:39 UTC
I don't know very well how to do this. Any way, I have got Karmic Koala and I think I have got a new gstreamer version. I am not sure. In PiTiVi's editor I can see the video with its right color but when I render it to .avi I keep getting green tonality. Any ideas? Sorry to anoying you. Daniel.
Comment 15 dbassa 2010-03-19 22:41:33 UTC
Me again. I updated gstreamer and...WORKING perfectly! Thanks again. Daniel
Comment 16 dbassa 2010-03-20 08:40:27 UTC
I have just noticed a black frame between some transitions. Is it happening to you? Thanks. Daniel
Comment 17 Jean-François Fortin Tam 2010-03-20 12:20:18 UTC
Yes, the black frame bug is bug #609792 and bug #612797
