GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 603933
Moving a row with formulae is tedious - need "insert cut cells" feature
Last modified: 2009-12-06 23:43:51 UTC
Created attachment 149215 [details] Shows the move-row issue in 3 steps On a sheet where there are formulae, eg column A contains values and column B contains cumulative totals, moving a row further down the sheet is rather difficult. First the new row location must be created as a blank row, but the cumulative formula for the line below is distorted, eg if B5 contained =B4+A5 the cell that it moves to (B6) becomes =B4+A6 (which is going to be a problem later on). Next, the row to be moved is copied and pasted over the newly inserted blank row (noticing that the total at the bottom doesn't change, which is sad). Finally the original row is deleted and the formulae below it all show "#REF!". The user is then left to repair the damage. The Excel feature "insert cut cells" is very useful and some equivalent in Gnumeric would make such work much more pleasant and less prone to error. Thanks for your great product!
