1. Set up an IM account on Empathy (could be an MSN account). You should have been prompted for a password, as in bug 586562.
2. Go to Edit -> Accounts.
3. Try to clear the password from said account, and click on Close.
4. Go back to Edit -> Accounts. The password is back there.

Just as the title says, there is NO WAY to clear a password from a created account.

I reported this also on Launchpad: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/empathy/+bug/118800

We can't offer UI to clear the password while Empathy (and MC) can't deal with accounts without saved passeword.
So we should fix bug #586562 first.

Actually I've been told that this bug is a regression, and an older version of Empathy could clear passwords from created accounts - even though it couldn't create them without passwords.

the clear button just performs the action to remove your password if you want to enter any new password (should it be just removed?)

Since my sasl-gui branch is merged you can clear the password from the keyring too.
