GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 597918
i think glade3 is over translated
Last modified: 2018-03-26 15:10:20 UTC
the tip of widget on palette should not be translated, also the properties of widget. developers who use the glade can understand the simple English words. and if translated,it may have ambiguity.
As a side note, this should probably be exported as a setting in a user preferences dialog (translate names & properties on/off).
Hi, I absolutely second that. I think the tooltips should include both the widget class and the translation, e.g. "GtkToggleButton (Bouton d'inversion)". I'm French, and having the translation only leads to this kind of convoluted workflow: * "Magasin de liste" > What's that ? > mmmh... > Ok "Magasin" is a poor translation of "Store" (it should be "Modèle de liste"), so it should be a GtkListStore... * "Bouton d'inversion" > What's that ? > Right click, go to devhelp > ok it's a GtkToggleButton, let's go back to glade. I think that this should be the same for widget properies, e.g. for the tooltip of a GtkWindow's "transient-for" property: 'property: "transient-for"\nLa fenêtre parente transitoire pour la boîte de dialogue"
Agree. Some terms must be don't translated. Like properties of objects. Properties in source code are not translated. It'll be nicer if properties correspond between Glade and source code.
