GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 590546
ANSI art not aligning properly, has gaps between lines
Last modified: 2009-08-02 19:39:10 UTC
Ansi art is not aligning properly and has gaps between its lines on nfoview 1.5 on Gentoo Linux. I had the same problem with nfoview 1.2. Here's a screenshot of the problem I'm seeing: http://dogshu.netlsd.com/nfoview_ansi_art_problem.png Here's what that .nfo file is supposed to look like: http://www.nfohump.com/index.php?switchto=nfos&menu=quicknav&item=viewnfo&id=141360 You can download the .nfo file in question here: http://dogshu.netlsd.com/battery.nfo It would be nice to see this fixed in a future version.
Please check your font settings in the preferences dialog (edit menu, preferences). In general, you need a monospace font to fix the "alignment" and you may need to adjust line-spacing to fix the "gaps". I recommend the Terminus font [1,2], which is a monospace font with good-looking box and line characters and does not require any line-spacing adjustment. Terminus is also the default font used by NFO Viewer. You may want to file a bug against Gentoo to have terminus-font marked as a dependency or recommendation or suggestion or something for the nfoview package.
