Description a_64 2009-07-20 20:16:18 UTC
Please describe the problem:
I've upgraded to Fedora 11, and I'm trying to see digital tv (DVB-S).

Works in Kaffeine, except a detail: Zoom doesn't work properly (see
bug report at https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=506852#c6).

So I'm trying to see digital tv in Totem, but it doesn't work. I've
generated the channels.conf file with w_scan (with "-X" option), and
copied it to ~/.xine/, and I've installed all required packets (from
Fedora and from RPMfusion):

  totem-xine-2.26.2-1.fc11.i586
  gstreamer-plugins-bad-0.10.13-3.fc11.i586
  ...
  (probably more, I can't remember)

If I run totem from command line, and select the dvb card at totem
menus, this is the output:

  $ totem

** Message: Error: A DVB protocol source plugin is required to play
  this stream, but not installed.
  gstplaybasebin.c(1691): gen_source_element (): /GstPlayBin:play:
  No URI handler for dvb

** Message: Missing plugin: gstreamer|0.10|totem|DVB protocol source

  ** Message: PackageKit: xid = 56623107

** Message: Error: A DVB protocol source plugin is required to play

  |urisource-dvb (ignoring)
** Message: All missing plugins are blacklisted, doing nothing
  $

No channel list is shown. Only an error window is shown, with similar
information about the missing DVB protocol source plugin.

No PackageKit window is opened, so probably no aditional packets are
required.

Bug 566428 is probably related, but that is reported for the
"gst-plugins-bad" component, and last comment in that thread says
that probably the bug hasn't to be fixed in that component. So I'm
opening a new bug at "Totem" component.

Does this happen every time?

Comment 1 a_64 2009-07-26 12:07:07 UTC
Bug update:

I've updated Fedora, run Totem, clicked on Movie > Watch TV on
'DVB Adapter 0', and then a PackageKit window is opened, asking
to search for a "DVB protocol source" complement. After clicking on
"Search" button, another PackageKit window is opened, asking to
install this packet:

GStreamer streaming media framework "bad" plug-ins
  gstreamer-plugins-bad-0.10.11-4.fc11 (i586)

It is asking for an old packet (0.10.11-4), since the following
packet (0.10.13-3) is already installed:

  gstreamer-plugins-bad-0.10.13-3.fc11.i586

Maybe something is wrong with rpmfusion packets? Do I open a bug
at bugzilla.rpmfusion.org?
