When posting from pan using a profile with username 'Markus R. Keßler', then the header of the posting will look like this:

From: "Markus R." =?iso-8859-1?q?Ke=DFler?= <dimke.fax@uni.de>

Furthermore, pan displays these messages like

Betreff: Pan 0.133 misspells author's name
From: "Markus R." Keßler <dimke.fax@uni.de>
Datum: 16 Apr 2009 19:13:25 GMT

Please note the " after the R.
