Description Joël Schaerer 2009-01-22 10:45:11 UTC
Please describe the problem:
When "Blank Screen" is selected as the screensaver, the screen should actually turn off using DPMS when the screen saver activates, at least for LCD monitors. This would help laptops, since merely displaying a blank screen doesn't actually save power on an LCD.

This has been reported before on the ubuntu launchpad (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-screensaver/+bug/257358), however since this is clearly not specific to ubuntu I thought it should be reported upstream.

That is up to the power manager.

Any news? It's been more than a year, and the bug is still marked as "UNCONFIRMED", although I can confirm the bug is very real :)

I understand this may not be top priority, but shouldn't it at least be assigned to someone?

This works for me in GNOME 3.2

bugzilla.gnome.org is being replaced by gitlab.gnome.org. We are closing all old bug reports in Bugzilla which have not seen updates for many years.

If you can still reproduce this issue in a currently supported version of GNOME (currently that would be 3.38), then please feel free to report it at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-power-manager/-/issues/

Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
