Not sure if this has been fixed in recent versions... I see it on v2.22. Basically just download a copy of this magazine: http://www.revolutionartmagazine.com/ and you will see the problem. There's a lot of "Error: Page transition object (page X) is wrong type (ref)" in stdout.

Confirmed in Evince 2.29.1 (git master) and popple 0.12.0 (git master).

This is a poppler issue. I've just fixed it:
