GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 564169
Brasero can't burn a video DVD from file or project
Last modified: 2012-09-07 10:38:14 UTC
Please describe the problem: I'm using Brasero 0.8.2 on Intrepid. Now brasero seems to have video DVD support, but if I try to burn a video file, in the burn dialogue the burn button is greyed out without a clue of how to fix the problem. That's very disorienting. Steps to reproduce: 1. Try to burn a video file Actual results: In the burn dialog the burn button is greyed out Expected results: Brasero should be able to burn video files and video project Does this happen every time? yes Other information: Screenshot: http://launchpadlibrarian.net/17660948/Pantallazo.png Brasero log: http://launchpadlibrarian.net/17662633/brasero.log Regarding launchpad bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/brasero/+bug/270976
i have the same problem ...
Created attachment 126227 [details] burn window with grey burn button Also noted on https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/brasero/+question/50602. I get the greyed out burn button as well, though I'm able to select different format and audio options, which differs from the screenshot.
Thanks for the report. I think what you need here is a few external programs. Check that you have the following installed: dvdauthor vcdimager gst-ffmpeg (Gstreamer plugins) gst-bad (Gstreamer plugins) gst-ugly (Gstreamer plugins) If once you installed all these plugins, it still doesn't work, then please run "brasero -g > log 2>&1" in a terminal and attach the log file to this bug so I can see what the problem is.
Did it fix your problem ?
Created attachment 127328 [details] Brasero 0.9.1 output I have experienced the same issues using Brasero 0.8.2 and 0.9.1 (backported from Jaunty) on Intrepid. The mentioned packages are installed. I hope this helps locating the problem.
Thanks; from your log, the problem is the libbrasero-vob.so plugin that doesn't want to be loaded. It's because you don't have either: -ffenc_mpeg2video -ffenc_ac3 -ffenc_mp2 -mplex these are gstreamer plugins. So Make sure you have all these installed (and you probably don't). It's possible ubuntu reshuffle the packaging???
mplex should be in gst-bad, right? It seems like this plugin is missing in the Ubuntu packages gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad or gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad-multiverse.
OK, mplex isn't in gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad because it needs mjpegtools >= 1.9.0, which isn't available for Intrepid. I guess that means that the video cd/dvd features of Brasero are pretty much broken on Intrepid machines. I've backported version 1.9.0 of mjpegtools from Jaunty and rebuilded the -bad package. gst-inspect now tells me, that all mentioned gstreamer plugins are installed. Unfortunately, libbrasero-vob.so still "encountered an [unknown] error while registering its capabilities."
OK thanks; could you try trunk SVN version. I added some more debug that will tell us what's missing. Please attach a log.
Created attachment 127363 [details] Brasero trunk output (fixed) I'm sorry, my last comment is incorrect. libbrasero-vob.so now loads properly and the button isn't greyed out any more (0.9.1 & trunk). Maybe i've looked in the wrong logfile. I noticed that the problem also affects Jaunty although the required mjpegtools version is available (due to a missing build dependecy). I'll file a bug on launchpad these days. Thanks a lot!
OK, then I guess it's closed bug. Thanks for your cooperation.
When I trying to write DVD video project, brasero stops with error: Installling packages by files isn't supported This method hasn't yet been implemented. All required applications and libraries are not installed. Please install the following manuallt and try again: mplex (GStreamer plugin Where I can find mplex? Please, help.

You can install it by typing: >sudo apt-get install mjpegtools >joe7256@t410:~$
