I've seen similar problems before and they turned out to be caused by broken video drivers.  Which video driver are you using, and on what distribution?

Make this steps first:
 
Preferences Window→General→Visible columns label
checking the "rating widget" that is displayed into the list, but there is a
sort
of corrupted image format; the stars are visible, but just below of the stars,
in
the same line (no matter if selected or not) appears a lot of dots multicolored
so this is the bad visualization, artifacts (?); already tried with others Icon Themes, but is
the same, nothing changed. If there is something I can do, I'll be very glad :)

bad display of stars rating item (artifacts)

Should displays something that doesn't appear

yes, every session (accelerated graphic activated or not)

Other information:
trying to switch between Icon Themes, nothing changed.
Videocard driver is nvidia, OS is Ubuntu 8.04;
Also if necessary I can provide the xorg.conf file
