GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 559388
nautilus can not connect/login 2 different users on one samba-server
Last modified: 2021-06-18 15:16:59 UTC
Please describe the problem: If I log in a samba server with nautilus (smb://user1@smbserver) I will not be able to log in the same server with another account (smb://user2@smbserver). Instead of showing me the files and folders of user2, I get the directory of user1. Steps to reproduce: 1. open 2 nautilus programs 2. open "smb://user1@smbserver" with the first nautilus program 3. open "smb://user2@smbserver" with the second nautilus program Actual results: You can only access the directories of user1! Expected results: You should access the directories of user2 ;-) Does this happen every time? yes Other information: I've tested this problem with Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy Heron). Versions: Nautilus 2.22.5.1, GNOME 2.22.3 This bug does not appear in Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid Ibex) and Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy Gibbon). (both tested with Live-CDs)
Ubuntu 9.10 / Nautilus 2.28.1 This still applies. There is no way to change login username on a samba share, not even via the manually entering the URL.
Mass component change due to BZ cleanup, sorry for the noise.
GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org. As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately quite limited so not every ticket can get handled). If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent and supported software version of Files (nautilus), then please follow https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines and create a new ticket at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/nautilus/-/issues/ Thank you for your understanding and your help.
