Description Rainer Mager 2001-05-28 10:19:15 UTC
The config.guess script returns 'elf_i386' which is not understood by
./configure. I copied the latest GNU's config.guess from the binutils
(2.11) source and that worked fine.

I've recently updated by GNU binutils, gcc, glibc, and fileutils. Probably
one of those caused the incompatibility.

I package libxml on a modified Red Hat 6.2 system. The autoconf
and automake packages were probably a bit old. I upgraded them
from the Red Hat 7.1 version, removed the config.guess and config.sub
and regenerated them. I hope this will fix the problem.
Check with the next version when released (probably later this week).
