The lock icon used in te statusbar and the location bar is a old style icon,  it would be cool to have a tango one.

This should be fixed already on trunk (bug 523958). Maybe we should backport that to gnome-2-24 ?

This problem has been fixed in the development version. The fix will be available in the next major software release. Thank you for your bug report.

I don't think this bug should be closed without a corresponding update to the documentation. (Chapter 9.1)

Never mind; I thought we were reverting back to the shield icons, I see it's just a Tango style update for the padlock icons. Sorry for the noise.
