Description Marco Barisione 2008-07-12 15:06:24 UTC
We clearly need more tabs in Empathy. See http://www.barisione.org/blog.html/p=134 for a screenshot.

This will be the best feature EVER!

Patch coming soon.

I like the idea of having tabs for splitting contact lists from different protocols, because, in multiprotocol apps like pidgin (or empathy) a user can have a lot of contacts (MSN contacts + Jabber + IRC ...) , but I think that there is no need for adding tabs simply for splitting groups into a tab, also, I really dislike vertical tabs with vertical text :-/

For example, look at proposed screenshot, if you want to chat with some contact under "Friends" you will have to click two times: one for selecting "Friends" tab and other for clicking over contact. Currently, you only need to click one time over desired contact.

Please reconsider it

Thanks a lot :-)

Confirming, not having tab support is a blocker for Gnome 3.0.
Comment 3 Luca Bruno 2008-07-12 17:26:39 UTC
I don't like both tabs:
1) Without upper tabs, you can see all your contacts
2) With right tabs you have to click two times for a contact in a different group as said in the above comment

You know, people really don't get that it's a joke. It's our fault that they could think we'd be serious about this. Please be kinder and try not to play on their fear of our ineptness.

Of course this was a joke :)
