GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 529123
Popups needing >1 modifier remain until none are pressed
Last modified: 2020-11-07 12:35:59 UTC
Forwarded from https://bugs.launchpad.net/metacity/+bug/54410 during tidying. ---- I have the following keys bound to switching virtual desktops: ctrl+alt+right = move one desktop to the "right" ctrl+alt+left = move to the left To reproduce the bug: 1) hold ctrl+alt 2) press left (or right) 3) release ctrl, but continue holding alt 4) press left or right -- desktop switches (unexpected) I don't know if this is an Ubuntu problem, or gnome, or something specific to my installation. Also, don't consider it a big deal. But I DO think it makes the gui seem un-polished, and expect it can be easily fixed. Cheers.
I have no idea whether this makes "the gui seem un-polished"; maybe we should ask HCI.
Bug report is incorrect -- the switch desktop action continues until the *primary* modifer (alt) is released. However, switching desktops while pulling the active window with you (ctrl+alt+shift+arrow) has much less predictable behavior. I'm pretty sure this is a dupe...
bugzilla.gnome.org is being replaced by gitlab.gnome.org. We are closing all old feature requests in Bugzilla which have not seen updates for many years. If you still use metacity and if you are still requesting this feature in a currently supported version of GNOME (currently that would be 3.38), then please feel free to report it at https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/metacity/-/issues/ Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry it could not be implemented.
