Description Sebastien Bacher 2008-03-08 15:28:48 UTC
The bug has been opened on https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/198385

"When emptying the trash (I used the "Empty Deleted Items" button at the top of the file list in Nautilus) a new gvfs style dialog pops up with a progress bar at 0% saying "Preparing". It stays at 0% for the duration of the empty and then disappears when it's done.

I imagine it should say "Emptying Deleted Items" and the progress bar should either update, or not be displayed at all."

I can confirm this bug on Ubuntu 8.04 and 8.10. A annoyance of an issue that really needs resolving.
Comment 2 Edwin ten Brink 2009-06-24 19:30:09 UTC
I can also confirm this on Fedora 10 with Nautilus 2.24.2.

It seems that no matter how many files are in the Trash, it will never show any progress beside 0%.

As a side note: shouldn't the "Component:" read "Trash" instead of "GIO"?
Comment 3 T.J. Crowder 2010-10-15 10:38:56 UTC
Still happening on Ubuntu 10.04 with Nautilus 2.30.1. It looks and feels (to the end user) like an actual problem, despite just being a cosmetic issue.
Comment 4 André Klapper 2021-06-18 15:49:59 UTC
GNOME is going to shut down bugzilla.gnome.org in favor of gitlab.gnome.org.
As part of that, we are mass-closing older open tickets in bugzilla.gnome.org
which have not seen updates for a longer time (resources are unfortunately
quite limited so not every ticket can get handled).

If you can still reproduce the situation described in this ticket in a recent
and supported software version of Files (nautilus), then please follow
  https://wiki.gnome.org/GettingInTouch/BugReportingGuidelines
and create a new ticket at
  https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/nautilus/-/issues/

Thank you for your understanding and your help.
