Description Stuart Langridge 2008-02-16 08:54:31 UTC
If a page is throwing JavaScript alerts in a tight loop (so as soon as you click "OK" on the alert, it throws up another one) then it's very difficult to get away from that page without killing Epiphany. It would be enormously handy if the close icon on the tab causing the problem still worked, and could close the tab, even if there was a JavaScript alert dialog showing. This is probably only useful to web developers who get something wrong while they're developing a page, but it would be extremely useful to those web developers, and it won't affect usability for ordinary users (and might occasionally be useful to them too).

Just kidding :(

simplest example on jsfiddle

https://jsfiddle.net/pmLjc2dd/

rescue only it: ``$ killall epiphany``

and see other bug: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=437109

Thanks for the example; that is helpful.

This has been on my mind for a while; I think it would be a relatively easy bug to work on. Look into WebKitWebView::script-dialog [1] and check bug #603192 for a possible solution.

Alternatively we could just add a checkbox in WebKit to prevent sites from displaying more dialogs.
