Description Johan (not receiving bugmail) Dahlin 2008-01-23 12:58:55 UTC
I recently had to modify hal-info to support add support for a mount option.
It took much longer time than it should because the error messages displayed
by gnome-mount is rather confusing.

The error message displayed when trying to use an unknown mount option is:

  Cannot mount volume.
Invalid mount option when attempting to mount the volume.

A better error message would include in it's description:

 * the option which is not known ('gid')
 * the file system this is not known for ('vfat')
 * that the validation check is done in HAL and not in gnome-mount itself.

"gnome-mount" will not see active development anymore according to its developers (as HAL is also dead).
Closing this report as WONTFIX - Please feel free to reopen this bug report in
the future if anyone takes the responsibility for active development again.
