Description Ori Avtalion 2008-01-08 19:41:12 UTC
Gstreamer already has a Musepack decoder, but is missing an encoder.

The official encoder is mppenc and can be found here:

From what I see there's unfortunately no encoder library, only an application.

Or is http://svn.musepack.net/libmpc/trunk/libmpcenc/ something that is still developed?

We don't usually keep enhancement requests open unless someone is planning to write code for it. Aside from the lack of library issue, are you planning to implement this?

No. This is purely a enhancement request.

I have spoken with the Musepack developers. The library will only be implemented after coding is done on the format's new version (sv8).
I could re-open this bug when it's ready.
Comment 4 Tim-Philipp Müller 2012-03-03 18:06:23 UTC
Hrm, there seems to be a library now, but not clear what it actually does, if it creates sv8 output or sv7 or what. It's all a bit of a mess, and I don't know if anyone's actually packaged it (or anyone is still using musepack, really).
Comment 5 Sebastian Dröge (slomo) 2012-03-05 07:51:52 UTC
You mean the libmpcenc directory? That's building a static library that is not installed.

No idea if someone is really still using Musepack, didn't see anyone mentioning it in years

Let's close this then.
