GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 430006
Vertical window size exceeds screen size
Last modified: 2011-04-18 07:06:40 UTC
Please describe the problem: The calendar windows resizes after loading $HOME/.evolution/calendar/local/system/calendar.ics . (FC6) I discovered this missbehaviuor after I imported my Calendar data from an formerly Thunderbird import. With empty calendar there was no problem... The list of appointments exceeds the displayable range of my screensize. Normally, I would expect evolution to display the data that fits in the list underneath the button where you can choose "any category" (in German: "Anzeigen: Beliebige Kategorie" -- I use the german version) and display a suitable scrollbar. Steps to reproduce: 1. start Evolution Mail 2. Switch to calendar 3. Choose "any category" with a number of appointments / birthdays that will not fit in the vertical space available in the current calendar windows size (must be about twice as many as displayable without scrollbar). Actual results: A scrollbar is displayed, but the main calendar windows size doesn't even fit on the Desktop even if I change the resolution to 1400x1050. There is no way to resize it to smaller vertical size by mouse. Expected results: A scrollbar is displayed and the main calendar window's size does not change. Does this happen every time? yes, it does - no matter if you start calendar directly or by switching with Crtl-3 out of the "Mail" window. Other information: I was courious if it happened in evolution mail, too. As long as you don't start the calendar-application, you can resize the evolution window to any size you want. But after starting calendar, vertical resizing gets impossible, you can resize it to bigger vertical size, but not smaller. (I tried in 1600x1200 where it fits my screen size) I am using Fedora 6 (kernel 2.6.20-1.2944.fc6), beryl-0.2.0-1.fc6.x86_64, emerald-0.2.0-1.fc6.x86_64 and the proprietary nvidia-driver with an nVidia 6600GT, installed through the nvidia-script named NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-1.0-9755-pkg2.run . I switched back to metacity and heliodor by using the Beryl Manager to try if it works, but the same thing happened after switching to the calendar-window in evolution.
Steps to reproduce: (must be about four times as many as displayable without scrollbar).
Seems to work fine here. Could you please confirm if this bug is still happening at your end ? Please try in 2.24.x / 2.26.x and report back, thanks.
the dialog didn't change no reason the bug should not be there

I have that same behaviour on my netbook and it also effects the settings dialog. As the netbook only has 1024 by 600 pixel the settings dialog will not fit to the screen. In this case the dialog needs a reshaping or a vertical scrollbar.
Effects also version 2.30.3 shipped with ubuntu 10.10.
