Description VF 2007-04-02 02:33:42 UTC
Please describe the problem:
I can't really read the pages which introduce Magnatune or Jamendo because the catalogs load too quickly and dismiss the info pages. It would be nice if there was a way to see this information.

Steps to reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

Actual results:

Expected results:

Does this happen every time?

For the Magnatune plugin at least, the information is copied from http://www.magnatune.com/info/attribs , and is pretty easy to find by clicking on the "Find out about Magnatune" button in the plugin preferences.

The basic idea of the loading screen was just to display *something* while the (potentially time-consuming) downloading of the catalog is taking place. Where else would you suggest putting it, for users who wanted to see it again?
Comment 2 VF 2007-04-08 02:21:51 UTC
Well, all I know is that it loads in a few seconds so I have no time to read it and i can't find any description so concise on Magnatune/Jamendo's websites so easily. I'm not sure where a good place for it in the UI would be without adding needless clutter, though...
Comment 3 James "Doc" Livingston 2007-04-08 02:35:14 UTC
Having a button, menuitem or something to look at it again would probably be a good idea. Perhaps the first time you use it, we could keep it up until you press "continue" or something, so you have time to read it (but not every time, which would be annoying).
Comment 4 VF 2007-04-08 02:42:20 UTC
Keeping it up the first time sounds like a good idea. After that there could be a toolbar button (probably not a good idea, too much clutter) or View->Store Information or something like that.

Allow user to read loading screen info before continuing

This patch adds a continue button to the loading screen, and waits for the user to press it the first time it's shown.

It also adds an item to the source popup menu which lets you show the screen again. I would have added it to the view menu, but it would have shown the item all the time. I also thought the toolbar wasn't quite an appropriate place to put it either.

Sounds perfect, thanks a lot

update, do jamendo too

I don't quite like the way the 'continue' button extends across the loading screen, though.

Make continue button normal-sized

This patch adds some blank labels on either side of the continue button, making it normal-sized (although it seems that because of a new glade version or something, the entire file gets changed).
