GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 414026
gnome-keyring-manager needs a tango-style icon
Last modified: 2008-11-15 19:43:29 UTC
gnome-keyring-manager needs a Tango-style icon to merge better with the new tangoish gnome-icon-theme. I made one, I'll attach to the bug as soon as possible. Other information:
Created attachment 83766 [details] Tango styled icon ...and here we go, this is my proposal for the Tango styled icon.
IMHO the metaphor is not that great, I think the metaphor of old GNOME 2 is much better. Besides, i think it's too much glossy.
we talked about the metaphor on #tango, the old one was maybe more suitable for "password manager" or "keyring", but this app is actually a "keyring manager", where you manage your password sets, and not just your passwords.
As ulisse says I think the keyring holder metaphor fits better then just a keyring as the old one
Nate, Can you commit the new icons? Thanks
Poke. Can we please get these icons in?
I don't see any problem to add this icons. But, I'm not sure about the future of gnome-keyring-manager if seahorse also implements a keyring manager (together with other features).
Seahorse replaced g-k-m starting from 2.22 release. 'cause seahorse icon needs some Tango-love too, could we reuse this set?
For what concerns to me, there is no problem at all. Go for it ;)
Though Seahorse has replaced gkm, can we at least commit the icons for the sake of beauty of a legacy and close this bug?
gnome-keyring-manager has been deprecated and superseded by Seahorse more than one year ago. There has not been any active code development for more than a year. This bug will probably soon be closed as WONTFIX or OBSOLETE.
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug. However, gnome-keyring-manager won't be developed anymore and it has been superseded by Seahorse.
