Description Sven Herzberg 2006-10-03 14:11:01 UTC
When running epiphany and it's not set as the default browser, present a window to ask the user whether to use ephy as the default.

This gets especially useful in distributions that deliver firefox as the default browser to remind us, the loyal ephy users :-D to change the default browser.

Taking bug (will provide a small patch this evening).

Yeah!, one step closer to world domination >:D! MUAHAHAHAHAHA.
Comment 3 Reinout van Schouwen 2006-10-03 15:28:05 UTC
Hm, not sure I like this idea. Perhaps it could work when epiphany is started for the first time, but I can see this becoming a nuisance for people who use more than one browser for different purposes.
Comment 4 Sven Herzberg 2006-10-03 18:32:06 UTC
There'll be of course a checkbox to disable this dialog.
Comment 5 Reinout van Schouwen 2006-10-03 20:09:00 UTC
Checkboxes like "Do not show this dialog again" are generally a bad idea, because it isn't clear how to undo such a decision. This could be an exceptional case though.
Comment 6 Sven Herzberg 2006-10-03 20:47:23 UTC
I was thinking about this too. Maybe the smartest idea is to let "don't display again" just be "don't display again". Not store any logic behind it (such as "set ephy to default"). If the user switches back, the dialog just won't appear. This way this is an "initial" issue only.
Comment 7 Reinout van Schouwen 2006-10-03 22:40:18 UTC
The question is, how would you know if you wanted to have Epiphany as default when you're running it for the first time?
Comment 8 Diego Escalante Urrelo (not reading bugmail) 2006-10-08 16:54:32 UTC
You are right Reinout.
