Description Matthias Saou 2006-01-31 10:29:48 UTC
Currently, Totem only supports loading subtitles from the command-line (in the
videoURL#subtitle:subURI form), which kind of defeats the purpose of it being a
Desktop application. Also, in 1.3.x at least, this only seems to work with the
xine-lib backend.

I think Julien has started working on fixing the subtitle displaying with the
gstreamer 0.10.x backend, but I would really like to see a graphical way to load
subtitles in Totem. Either :
- By having a menu entry to "Load subtitle file", or something like that, which
then requires a way of disabling them too (this is what gmplayer dodes).
- By having a part of the playlist where to add/remove and enable/disable subtitles.
- ... other ideas?

Additionnaly, if it was possible to load and activate a subtitle file for the
currently playing video by simply dragging and dropping it, that would be simply
great (but currently, any file drag and dropped replaces the current playlist,
and Totem tries to play it).
