Description Benzo 2006-01-08 00:39:14 UTC
Modifying space by space the quantity of decimals that I want to see takes a lot, better if this option could be selected for the whole document or by default, it would be nice to have both, the actual way and the other that I'm proposing

Thanks

You can select the whole sheet and set the number format (and the number of decimals) for that whole sheet. What specifically are you loonking for?
Comment 2 Benzo 2006-01-08 14:35:27 UTC
Maybe it can be done by selecting the whole sheet as you said but I think that this could be improved just by adding an option to stablish the number of decimals for the whole document. For example just right to the options of decimals set the number of decimals I want to see in that document, no more.
Let's think that I start writing a sheet and I don't know how long it's going to be but I want the decimals stablished for the whole document before I finished it because while I'm testing it I'll be seeing the ****** when the square is not big enough (not so polish). Another reason could be that having a lot of decimals is not so useful to many people, ok everybody knows what they need but what for to have 7 or 8 decimals for a simple document? and finally calc of openoffice gives you this option, and I think that it may be missed for some people (me included)
Comment 3 Andreas J. Guelzow 2006-01-08 16:29:08 UTC
This is really an enhancement request. (Since I can't find that option in openoffice, I can imagine many side-effects of such an "enhancement" that I would not like.)
Comment 4 Benzo 2006-01-08 17:06:17 UTC
This is not an "enhancement" that option can be found in Openoffice 2.0 in: Tools/Options/Openoffice.org Calc/Calculate/Decimals (maybe is a little bit differente, I'm translating it from spanish)
I haven't seen any side effect until now
Comment 5 Andreas J. Guelzow 2006-01-09 04:39:57 UTC
This is not a bug. You are asking for an added feature, so for an enhancement.

Thanks for the info on where to find it in OO Calc. I also notice, that it does not really set the number of decimals but the _maximum_ number of decimals.

Personally, I find it really disturbing that by default 1/500 is shown as 0!
Comment 6 Benzo 2006-01-09 20:26:38 UTC
1) Yes is an enhancement, I filled his bug as that
2) Yes, my point was to stablish the number of decimals but I think that the option of Openoffice is better, the maximum number of decimals for the whole document
3) 1/500=0 could be easily solved just by setting the maximum number of decimals as 3 (if this enhancement is approved)

Thanks
