Description Cédric 2005-11-19 16:37:04 UTC
Add the support of the new alternative format to PDF of Microsoft.

Metro Specification and Reference Guide is available here :

In general perspective it's would be nice to have.
Comment 2 Alan Horkan 2006-04-12 01:02:23 UTC
Link is outdated, and the Metro is now being called "XML Paper Specification" (though i'd be surprised if the name didn't change again at least once). current link: http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/xps/xpsspec.mspx

From the license agreement it looks like Microsoft could later block the use of this format by revealing patents they hold on it. In general perspective it might be counterproductive to support a closed standard. (Whereas making evince available on windows and providing a fast competative alternative to Acrobat reader might help reinforce PDF against the Microsoft threat.)

*** Bug 348024 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
Comment 5 Michel Alexandre Salim 2010-07-06 07:41:03 UTC
Is there any work being done on this? Okular has partial support for XPS, perhaps it could be reused.
Comment 6 Carlos Garcia Campos 2010-09-05 15:14:38 UTC
Fixed in git master using libgxps (http://git.gnome.org/browse/libgxps). Please, file separate bug reports for bugs or missing features in xps backend. Thanks!
