Description Luke Hutchison 2005-03-23 04:45:33 UTC
Please describe the problem:
There are currently three "Places" menus in GNOME:
 (1) The one in the "Application | Places | Desktop" menu applet
 (2) The one in Nautilus
 (3) The list on the left hand side of the GtkFileChooser window, including
user-settable bookmarks.
All three show different lists of places.

Some of the listed places are obviously not applicable to one or other of the
contexts these three Place lists are seen. However it would help user interface
consistency if these lists are as mutually-consistent as possible.

I realize bookmarks were removed from Nautilus's spatial mode on purpose, so it
may not make sense to import GTK's user-set directory Places there (even though
it would be immensely useful to have them). However the CD/DVD creator would be
handy in the system Places menu, etc. It would be nice if all three
apps/libraries pulled from the same Places list, so that if a new Place were
added, it appeared in all three lists.
