Description Willem van Bergen 2005-03-08 09:42:39 UTC
Distribution/Version: Ubuntu

A feature I saw in JuK, which I thought was very useful:

In JuK I can select multiple playlists at once in the "sources list". This will
combine the songs in each playlist to form a single playlist.

probably the same issue as #107787
Comment 2 Alex Lancaster 2006-02-17 14:22:17 UTC
That would be bug #107787. You can't quite select multiple playlists, but you can add all the tracks from different playlists and add the to the "Play Queue".

Is this something that is desirable to implement, or is the approach suggested in #2 the recommended way of doing this?

I just looked at the code, and it would require some modifications to ./shell/rb-shell.c (rb_shell_select_source) so that it does not unselect the currently selected source. I would think this only works for playlists.

I would not mind taking a look into it if is something that could be nice to have.
Comment 4 Jonathan Matthew 2008-09-16 21:48:10 UTC
It's a lot more complicated than that. When multiple playlists were selected, something would have to construct a query model containing all of the tracks from the selected playlists. I can't really see where this would happen without it being a horrible hack.

I haven't looked at how this actually works in juk, but it doesn't seem like it really fits in with the way the source list works in rhythmbox. I think it'd be a better idea to look at what this feature offers and see if there's a better (more rhythmboxish) way to provide the same.
