Description Jeff Witthuhn 2005-02-17 03:28:53 UTC
I request a shear filter similar to that of photoshop for GIMP. Pretty much a
description of the filter is it bends the inage based on a drawn curve. I
believe this could be achieved with a modification of the current "curve bend"
filter. Just allow to wrap the edges of the image and have a single curve for
the whole image instead of two like in the curve bend filter. I believe that
such a filter would help a lot for creating smoothly curved objects.

This image is the shear filter from photoshop to help show what I am trying to
explain: http://img203.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img203&image=shear7us.jpg

Nice idea. A patch would dramatically increase the likelihood of this being
implemented.
Comment 2 Sven Neumann 2005-02-17 10:21:11 UTC
You realize that you can already get pretty much the effect you'd like by using
the Copy button to copy the upper curve to the lower (or vice versa). All that's
missing is wrapping at the edges.
Comment 3 Jeff Witthuhn 2005-02-17 12:58:59 UTC
I didn't see the copy button :P
Then wouldn't it be a lot easier just to add an edge wrap check box and keep it
as one filter?
