Andrew: this looks like a duplicate of bug #96222, which is duplicate of bug #94806. And this one is marked as RESOLVED FIXED. The bug was in GTK. Could you try GTK HEAD ?
I pulled my sources from CVS HEAD yesterday
*** Bug 96222 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
I think (looking at it again) that I marked that a dup in error. Owen, look useful on your end? the duplicate is in another app (metacity), which makes this smell like a gtk problem.
I think you are seeing the window-menu-creation-code which may be cut-and-pasted betwen the task list and metacity; the commonality in the backtrace is not code in GTK+. I'll let Havoc sort out whether this is a related bug to something in metacity or just happens to crash here.
There are no new dupes here. Can we assume this has been fixed?
And six months went by without another. I'm closing it.
