terminal crashes after changing the window size

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. open terminal
2. ssh to a RH6.2 box
3. run pine (4.12)

Actual Results:
terminal crashed

Expected Results:
a bigger window ;-)

How often does this happen?
I was able to reproduce it twice
it seems to work, if I resize the window once before I run pine
then resizing works.. even with pine
