Description of Problem:
cannot enter in to my gnome environment after i have RE-booted into my
fresh install of redhat 8.0. I installed redhat 8 - did one reboot - got
into the default gnome desktop - did some configuration of my gnome
desktop which included moving the default panel (provided by redhat) to
be a vertical left side panel.  I have had this same problem in the
redhat betas (null, ...) and i filed a bug report then too! When i
reboot for the second time and try to enter into my user  account (the
same one as the first time) i get a message box saying "Application
"gnome-panel (process 994) has crashed due to a fatal error. (Aborted)"
If i click close the message box reappears (and i am trapped in a
gut-wrenching loop!) and i never get out of it. the other button on
offer is "submit a bug report" - and guess which one i clicked!!

Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. move the only panel (default at bottom) to the vertical left side of
screen
2. reboot
3. cry because you cant get into your brand new installation :(

Actual Results:
Stuck in an error message box loop forever. clicking cancel brings you
back to the same message box.

Expected Results:
Enter graciously into the user account and start to enjoy the beauty of
gnome 2!

How often does this happen?
every time i have installed a version of redhat from 7.3 beta (null) to
the current redhat 8.0.
