GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 94317
Annotation data imbedded in images
Last modified: 2002-10-02 16:36:29 UTC
Several high-end image processing applications permit users to imbed data into an image file that is later retrievable and searchable by file managers like MS Explorer. Adobe Photoshop does this, for example, via their <File Info> function. Attribute data like photographer, copyright information, watermark, notes, comments, keywords, etc. are all available fields in the Photoshop "File Info" dialog. In managing hundreds of images, this kind of information is invaluable. I prefer GIMP over Photoshop and would like to see the GIMP with this functionality. Is this something you would consider integrating into the GIMP? Thanks, Eric
This has already been suggested in bug #56443 (EXIF tags). Additional metadata can be stored in XMP/IPTC format as suggested in bug #94416. Regarding the user interface for editing this (the "Image Info" dialog), you can take a look at bug #61499. I promised to work on the EXIF support some time ago. I hope that I will have the time to do it soon... *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 56443 ***
