I use sloppy focus. I'm running galeon and I type CTRL-F to bring up the
find dialog and it doesn't get focus. I tried going into gconf-editor and
setting  application_based but that doesn't help. 

If I launch anything from a menu, the new window created also does not
receive focus.

I'm using metacity-2.4.0.0.200209080026-0.snap.ximian.1.
