The main menu does not refresh automatically. Only a "killall" makes it to
re-read everything. I have not found the tickbox controlling this behaviour
(was in preferences in Gnome 1.4).

I currently have gnome-vfs-2.0.0 and gnome-panel-2.0.1 installed.

Fixed already in one branch in CVS; will be fixed when that is checked
into HEAD. Marking this a dup in the meantime. Thanks for the
feedback, though.
