GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 90202
favorites:/// doesn't do anything [should be vfolder, not desktop-method]
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
To reproduce, open up favorites:/// view. Drag and drop a .desktop file in there - doesn't create it anywhere. I assume it's not implemented yet.
Okay, so this works if you have the ~/.gnome/apps directory created already, otherwise it just fails. Instead of fixing it I suggest we just replace the few methods that desktop-method is used for (favorites:, start-here:, system-settings:, server-settings:) with vfolders. Thoughts?
alex: I actually like to see favorites:// used to replace nautilus bookmarks, so im all for that idea.
yeah, I'm all in agreement...sorry, didn't realise that favorites:/// was in the desktop-method /me dumb.
you're not dumb. it makes no sense! ;-)
Alex: FWIW, bug 89754 is where havoc requests more or less the same thing. You can probably close that one if you fix all three of these in one go.
Fixed in vfolder cvs branch... removed libdesktop.so altogether.
Tested with sun beta 2 build 4 package. We are able to reproduce the problem. Can we reopen the bug please.
Able to reproduce what problem?
When were your packages built from CVS?
Source was taken from multihead branch on "Tue Aug 20 13:26:01 BST 2002"(version 2.0.3). I am able to reproduce means, when I drag and drop a folder/file into favourites:/// view, I am not getting any error message nor seeing the folder/file(which is dropped).
There is no multihead branch of gnome-vfs; that's meaningless. Still, should have been fixed by the 20th. What is the last entry in your gnome-vfs Changelog?
Source was taken from gnome-2-0-vfolder-rewrite branch dated "Tue Aug 20 13:26:01 BST 2002".
