GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 89613
Dragging and dropping a .desktop into applications-all-users and refreshing nautilus view duplicates
Last modified: 2009-08-15 18:40:50 UTC
Steps to reproduce - Drag and drop a .desktop file into applications-all-users:/// [nautilus]. This creates .desktop file in $prefix/share/applications and entry in $prefix/etc/gnome-vfs-2.0/vfolders/applications-all-users.vfolder-info [to avoid placing in the 'Applications' submenu... You get the same behaviour if you drag and drop into applications:/// view but obviously the .desktop file is created in ~/.gnome/vfolders/applications and only ~/.gnome/vfolders/applications.vfolder-info files are modified. Ditto for preferences:/// Copying files into preferences-all-users:/// gives me an error message this this is a read only file system [it's definitely not] so I couldn't test the above
Still get duplication on recent sources. Have moved the preferences-all-users:/// bug to a seperate bug.
I get duplication in the rename case, too- rename in applications:, close, reopen applications:, see two items. Works fine in the menu, though. Is that the same root problem, alex?
Yup.
I don't see any duplication now when you drag an icon into the nautilus view, and then refresh it...haven't tried with renaming stuff yet.
Is this bug stiill occuring for anyone?
Any news here?
Closing. No new info in a couple of years.
