GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 88420
Gnome reports a panel already running and wants to start another
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
Package: gnome-panel Severity: minor Version: 0.6 Synopsis: Gnome reports a panel already running and wants to start another Bugzilla-Product: gnome-panel Bugzilla-Component: Panel Description: I have installed 'goats,' a post-it notes application. I put an applet for it on my Ximian panel, and created an auto-run entry through control panel for it. It runs fine most of the time, but sometimes, when X is starting up, I get an error that a panel is already running. If I say 'ok' to start a new one, it messes up the settings on my current panels and I usually have to recreate all the icons etc. If I say no, it crashes. I suspect it might possibly be something to do with the fact that my home directory is automounted (using automount) off of a linux file server (running RedHat 6.2). I can't make this crash happen if I am using a local home directory. Usually, the problem does not reoccur if I logout (back to GDM) and log back in. Sometimes I have to do this 2 or even 3 times.
