Description Jonathan Kamens 2002-07-11 15:40:29 UTC
In gnumeric 1.0.5, I encountered a situation recently where the contents of
a field fit fully in the field on screen, but were truncated when I printed
out the spreadsheet.

The field was actually four horizontal cells merged together. The contents
were centered, bold text; I don't remember which font. When printed, the
text was cut off on either end.

Perhaps if I had resized the field to the optimal width by double-clicking
on the column separator to the right of it, it would have been resized to a
correct width for printing, but I couldn't do that because resizing to
optimal width doesn't work properly for merged fields (about which I'm
about to file a separate bug report).

If, indeed, resizing to the optimal width would have solved the problem,
then I suppose this is just a matter of screen display vs. printing and I
shouldn't worry about it, but I thought I should file a bug about it just
in case.

Perhaps this is fixed in 1.0.8; I was not able to test this for certain
because I couldn't remember what font it occurred with. I also couldn't
test it in 1.1.x, because I can't compile 1.1.x on my machine yet because
there's no RHL Rawhide package for gal 2.0 and I don't have time to compile
that myself.
