GNOME Bugzilla – Bug 84718
The DND animation for desktop folder icons is horrible.
Last modified: 2004-12-22 21:47:04 UTC
Repro: Apply the Sierra Nautilus theme. Autosort your icons, which places them pretty close to the left edge of your screen. Drag a shortcut or file from the desktop over one of your folders. Result: The folder icons leaps open like a huge lunging mouth, pushing the label text down and to the left. The weirdness is even more exaggerated if you have an emblem applied to the folder. I really dislike this animation. I'd much prefer a simple highlight of the folder. If we are going to do animation, let's at least contrain the animation to use the same icon dimensions as the closed folder.
louie: I'll leave this up to you but i think this pretty much notabug or wontfix. Reasons: 1. nautilus doesn't have real animated icons like konq does. Konq uses mngs for it's animated icons. Nautilus simply switches the icon between two states, though supported mngs would be nice. 2. Given [1], basically all nautilus themes are unmaintained, and more likely than not will just be removed in the future and replaced with more gnomish themes, eg gorilla etc. 3. Given [2], sierra is also not the default theme so this becomes even less of an issue.
Urm... this is closed because of the migration to icon themes that happened for 2.2
