Package: Gnumeric Severity: critical Version: 1.0.6 Synopsis: related to bugs 82409 and possibly to 81104 Bugzilla-Product: Gnumeric Bugzilla-Component: MS Excel (tm) Description: Just to mention I use Debian woody The problem occurs when I try to open a xls from Excel. I sincerely dont know the reason. If gnumeric cannot handle the format it must provide a warning but not crash without any apparent reason. It can easily handle xls files. There is something very odd going on in Debian Woody. There have been several reports like this that I can not replicate with the debian packages. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 81104 ***
If you are using Debian, can you use 'reportbug' to give us more information ?
A clue just arrived this morning. It may be a locale issue. Can you create a new workbook and try to SAVE it in xls format ? If that crashes too then we can patch the bug for 1.0.7 (due today).
