Package: gnumeric
Version: 1.0.6
Severity:

>Synopsis: Crash while opening Excel file
>Class: sw-bug
System: Linux 2.4.17 / libc6 2.5.5

>Description:
While openening an Excel file, the application crashes due to a segfault. KSpread has the same problem, same import filter?

>How-To-Repeat:
Every time I open the file with gnumeric, it crashes. I regret I cannot give the Excel file, it contains to much private data.

I'll keep the Excel file, and am willing to perform tests if you are interested.

I'm very interested in this sort of issue. Our XL import should be absolutely
rock solid.

Would you be able to give me a copy of the sheet directly ? Our
confidentiality protocol would keep the sheet local to my machine
until the bug is closed.

Failing that, could you run gnumeric in a debugger and send in the backtrace
of the crash ?

I'm not sure this is a duplicate but the email address is bogus.

Hmm, just received a sample file form this user. It loads flawlessly for me in
1.1 and 1.0.6. I suspect ximian packages.

If you are using Debian, can you use 'reportbug' to give us more information ?

Comment 7 Jody Goldberg 2002-06-03 14:55:32 UTC
A clue just arrived this morning. It may be a locale issue.
Can you create a new workbook and try to SAVE it in xls format ?
If that crashes too then we can patch the bug for 1.0.7 (due today).
