long application names are normally ellipsized ("foofoofoo barbarbar bazbazbaz" becomes "foofoofoo barba.." etc). this may not pose any problem unless you have "long application name version 1" and "long application name version 2" and you want to know which one you're executing. one way to deal with this would be that the name of the application is expanded on mouseover or when selected by keyboard.
