Description Terry M 2018-05-17 01:58:42 UTC
When I try to save my file to an external drive, the dialog box comes up but it doesn't open the external drive that I've chosen. It doesn't even allow me to save on the partition on my hard drive as well even though it is one of the available options (in addition to my external hard drive, CD Drive, etc.). The only options that work are "Home", "Desktop", "Documents", "Downloads", "Music", "Pictures", and "Videos". Once I pick one of the Drive options below, it doesn't open that Drive, including my Local C: drive, to allow me to save my file there. I usually back up a copy of my Gnucash file to the external hard drive but haven't been able to. My work around of course is to just find the file on my computer and save it to my external hard drive.

This sounds like a duplicate of bug 795653. Did you download the latest gnucash-3.1-2.setup.exe or are you using the older one?
Comment 2 Terry M 2018-05-17 04:30:13 UTC
I'm using Version: 3.1
Build ID: 3.0-118-gd2ef5fd0f+ (2018-04-28). I'm guessing that isn't 3.1-2. I'll look at the 795653 bug thread if it's a duplicate.

I think you guessed correctly, but you have to look at setup.exe version, not the internal GnuCash version: The latter is the version of the GnuCash sources and doesn't take into account the other dependencies in the all-in-one package.

Absent any response, losing as duplicate of 795653. If this turns out to still be a problem with the more recent build please do reopen it.
