Description jmreymond 2017-11-05 11:48:29 UTC
I am using gedit with Ubuntu 17.10. After a few hors, copy is broken and in ClipIt, there is no copied text. Using geany is OK.
If a reboot, the computer, all is OK but again after a few hours,...
Comment 1 Max Fuxjäger 2017-12-11 19:22:42 UTC
Could it be that you closed gedit in the meantime? Gedit seems to purge the clipboard when it is closed. See also issue #163723
Comment 2 jmreymond 2017-12-12 05:44:36 UTC
I confirm, it is the same issue as #163723. gedit is not closed in the meantime.
Comment 3 George White 2018-01-03 12:54:49 UTC
Just a few questions so I can try and reproduce:

* Does copying text after these 'few hours' work at all? i.e. when the clipboard appears to be empty, can you still copy to clipboard?

* Does it only affect pasting back in to gedit, or to other applications?

Thanks

1. Yes, I switch to geany and all is perfect
2. It affects only copy/cut in gedit to all the other applications including ClipIt, Firefox, etc

In the console, I have the message as follows

(gedit:20270): Gdk-WARNING **: 17:47:33.100: Error writing selection data: Erreur d’écriture vers le descripteur de fichier : Relais brisé (pipe)
